Psalm 103:2

Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me

PRAYER

Lord God, thank you for the gift of your provision. When I am in need, help me to turn to you first because you are the only one who can truly and completely satisfy.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Additional Devotions

For generations, the Israelites lived in Egyptian bondage. They knew nothing else, expected nothing else. Yet, in their pain, cried out to God for help. He heard their cries and responded by performing miracle after miracle through a man named Moses to deliver them from their taskmasters in Egypt.

Was it an easy road out? No. The Israelites had many obstacles to face but God promised to be with them. Even so, they were scared, unsure. They even desired to go back to the bondage of Egypt because it was familiar and predictable.

Have you ever been in a new situation only to find that fear and insecurity are driving you back to the “familiar” regardless of the pain awaiting you when you return?

This is where the Israelites found themselves. After a grand exodus from the pain of their slavery in Egypt, they hoofed it through the foreign terrain of the wilderness grumbling and groaning in fear and frustration instead of faith.

Once again, in God’s great mercy and love, He provided. He provided manna—the bread of heaven (Psalm 78:24); a wafer that tasted like it was made with honey (Exodus 16:31). It was a miracle, a grand provision to satisfy their hunger during the forty years in the wilderness.

Every morning there was sufficient quantity for all—over a million Israelites for forty years! Their only responsibility was to go out and gather that which God had provided. It was a call to obedience and trust.

Do you trust God to meet your needs? Are you wandering in a wilderness of sorts? Loss, loneliness, lack, or rejection? Maybe it’s an uncertain future or a past that continues to haunt?

One of the highlights of my testimony has been God’s provision—a spiritual gift of manna—given to me and my three kids after their father died almost 14 years ago.

Each and every day, God has given us manna in many different forms. Money for what we needed. His Spirit for wisdom. His Word for direction. And safe relationships for comfort, connection, and support.

Honestly, the list is long and powerful. When I take the time to remember all He has done it builds my confidence and strengthens my faith.

Whatever you need—spiritual renewal, emotional healing, a physical need—ask God. God is able; He can and will provide. He has manna just for you and specific to your need. Like the Israelites, when He tells you to go and gather that for which He has provided—go, and gather, and be blessed.

Hugs for a great week and remember, you are not alone. Look up, God wants to give you the gift of manna today. Go, and gather, and be blessed!
