Are you waiting on God for something?  Are you waiting for him to do something specific that your heart aches for him to accomplish in your life, or in the life of someone you love?

Lets face it, waiting is hard. Nobody likes to wait. However, most of us, at some point or another, find ourselves in this quandary. It seems as though answers to prayer typically come in three forms—Yes, No, and Wait. While we celebrate the Yes and often pout about the No, it is the Wait that seems to be the hardest to accept.

What have you been waiting on God to do in your life? Name it. Give it substance by identifying the desires hidden at the core of the longing. Then explore those desires to see if they line up with God’s will. If they do, then keep asking. If not, ask God to help you see what He desires for you.

After all, most of what we want, what we pray for, is good and comes from a good place. It begs the question…Why doesn’t God answer ‘Yes’? Why do we so often hear ‘No’ or ‘Wait’?

Life is often a complicated journey full of charged emotions and heartbreak, but can also be a wonderment of triumph and joy. I bet you’ve faced a handful of struggles while waiting on God. And the longer you have to wait, the more hits our faith can take.

Are you worn down from praying and asking for something important, and feeling forgotten? My fear is, that when God asks us to wait, we give up too soon.

Big hug my friend. Hang in there. I bet God is working behind the scenes to accomplish his good will. It may not feel like it or look like it, but I assure you, He is. Try and remember that so many of the amazing works of God can’t be seen, but are intricately and intentionally woven into the very fabric of our lives.

Our scripture tells us what we need in order to wait on God, and that is trust.

Do you trust him? Don’t be too quick to answer this question. Take a moment to ponder how you live your life.

Does your life reflect that you trust God? Do you have confidence that he is able to do above and beyond all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)? Do you truly believe he will answer your prayer?

If I’m honest with myself, I probably waffle on this one depending on the circumstances of my life. If everything is going good, it’s easier for me to trust God. But if things are crumbling around me, I find it more difficult to trust him. And yet, it’s in those times of uncertainty that we need the promise that he is trustworthy.

If our ability to wait relies on our conviction of trust, it is in our expectation of God’s goodness that we wait. For scripture says, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Sometimes, in your wait, God is saying he has something better planned that you haven’t even thought or imagined. And if you hold on a little while longer, your eyes will see, and your heart will soar at the goodness he has in store for you.

So, in your wait, trust that he, indeed, has a good plan for you.

Reflect and Respond:

Take some time this week to pour your heart out to God. Tell him the desires of your heart and then be still and listen. What is he saying to you? Revealing to you? Is he confirming in your spirit any answers to prayer—yes or no—or is he asking you to wait a little longer so he can bless you in a way you never imagined? Let hope soar in your hearts this week. God has amazing plans for you!
