A Prayer of Blessing

Verse for the Week: Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV); “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace”

While it’s been a rough few months, there is one special moment that happened this past week that stands above all the rest. It was a simple moment in the kitchen with my mom.

I had hit the proverbial wall and was pouring out my heart to her, all the raw emotion of fear and frustration of this crazy life I lead as a single mom, raising three kids with so many needs.

Honestly, it was probably more than she could stand, seeing me, her daughter, struggle to the point of tears. I’m sure she wanted to take my pain away and would have if she could. But in that moment of more than enough pain for the two of us, she asked if she could pray for me.

She did and I was blessed.

Being the strong woman and mother life has challenged me to become, it is hard for me to humble myself and admit I am in need. Especially with my mom—those of you who have strained “mother” relationships can relate, I’m sure!

Over the years my mom and I have come a long way in our relationship. It has been tested through many fires along the way but she never gives up on me and I love her so much for it.

To make a long story, short—this special moment not only blessed me, but has inspired me to say a Prayer of Blessing over you, the amazing single moms of MomsHope and everyone who has joined in the MomsHope community to love, support and encourage you along the way.

Before I do though, I wanted to share that I will be taking a little hiatus from writing the blog but I will be back in a few months. It has become clear I’m running myself a little ragged trying to do more than I have the capacity to withstand. So I’m going to take a little break and catch my breath.

So with that, I will leave you with this

Oh Lord, Almighty God, what an honor it is to pray for these women whom I adore and love. I pray a very special blessing over each and everyone reading this today.

Lord God, give her the courage of Joshua as she soldiers through the battles of this life.

Give her the provision you gave Ruth when she finds herself in times of great need, lack, and uncertainty.

Put in her a heart like David that loves you beyond the norm and praises you in the storm.

Soften her in the humility of Mary as she heeds the call of a life of service in parenting those you have chosen to give her.

Go before her in your power and presence, and teach her to lead like Moses in the areas of her life that need rescue and new direction.

Give her the vision of Abraham as you call her to leave the comfortable and journey into the unknown of new territory in work, life, and relationships.

Bless her and strengthen her with the conviction of Paul as she stands firm in faith and in your truth.

Infuse her with the contagious passion of Esther as she challenges the status quo and forges a new path marked with your good will and purpose.

And finally, bless her with eternal blessings that only the love of Jesus can bestow.

I ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus!

All my love and, Amen.

Reflect and Respond:

Take some time this week to speak a blessing over your children or pray a blessing over someone in need.

Feel free to post any thoughts on the topic. We would love to hear from you.

Remember, you are not alone. Big hug for a blessed week.
